Job Description
FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE
Responsible for the daily collection and distribution of interoffice mail, supplies and other valuable items/documents for the Child Nutrition Department on a daily basis. Responsible for collecting and transporting café deposits. Responsible for security café deposits throughout transport and delivery to local financial institution.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Uses a district delivery vehicle to transport mail, supplies, deposits revenue and any other items as needed.
- Performs mail service delivery and performs pre-delivery sorting, inspection, and determines necessary routing for delivery of mail.
- Responsible for transporting money from child nutrition office to schools and banks in the district by following proper accountability procedures, forms, and reports.
- Able to collect cash deposits from the school and take it to the bank for deposits.
- Able to document and log deposit information in the log sheet located in the school cafeteria office.
- Transports and deposits in the bank.
- Receives all outgoing Child Nutrition office mail daily; and delivers outgoing mail to WSFCS mail room and or U.S. Post Office.
- Receives, sorts, and delivers interoffice written communications.
- Responsible for refueling and maintaining a clean vehicle. Checks vehicle and files reports on needed mechanical repairs
- Ability to load/unload delivery vehicle with outgoing/ incoming items daily.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to work independently to determine routing changes based on café service time change.
- Ability to use maps and global positioning systems (GPS) to locate addresses and determine efficient routes for delivery.
- Must be able to recognize vehicular problems and schedule appropriate maintenance. Maintain vehicle appearance and sanitation.
- Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and write.
- Able to lift 50 lbs and over.
- Able to prioritize daily tasks and use good judgment in planning schedule.
- Be flexible in changing planned route when emergencies arise.
- Effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
- Work with confidential information and materials.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum: High School Diploma/GED
Minimum:
- Must have an acceptable driving record as specified by the NC DOT and WS/FCS.
- Must have an acceptable criminal record as specified by WS/FCS
Preferred
- Previous law enforcement experience and/or responsibility for transport of money and mail.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Driving license Required.

Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools formed in 1963 with the merger of the Winston-Salem and Forsyth County school systems. It is the fourth-largest system in North Carolina and the 78th largest in the nation.
