Community Connector
Recruiting for a Community Connector to join our Tower Hamlets service.
£25,000 per annum, working 40 hours per week, plus 25 days Annual Leave, Pension schemes, Staff discounts, healthcare and more.
Job Overview:
We are looking to recruit a Community Connector, who will connect with Look Ahead customers in our mental health pathway, engaging their talents and skills to identify important resources in the community. They will work across two services in Tower Hamlets including a Recovery Drop-in Centre and provide support to those service through building partnerships with other organisations and agencies. They will develop and enhance community networks and engagement within Tower Hamlets, including accessing local grants and resources to grow and develop the Recovery Centre.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure co-production is embedded within the culture of the service as a ‘way of life’
- Support the identification of customer aspirations and then supporting those customers to link into resources and local networks that will help their aspirations to be realised.
- Oversee the day-to-day management of the Look Ahead Recovery Centre and it’s drop-in activities.
- Maintain up-to-date information-sharing protocols/Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
- Organise shadow days, joint training/meetings to upskill staff and build relationships
- Invite delivery of in-reach sessions at drop-in groups
- Develop relationships with community partners
- Create partnerships to meet emerging needs of customers, e.g., assistive technology for physical health needs
- Liaising with staff in other Tower Hamlets mental health services and community agencies to develop customer support networks/opportunities
- Network with the local community, organisations, to further develop co-produced peer support and peer-led sessions with customers
- Carry out support duties to enable customers to integrate into the community including e.g. accompanying the customer to attend benefit agency appointments and meetings, go shopping, to enquire at colleges about possible courses, to visit various public amenities.
- Accessing and applying for grants/donations for customers
- Report any observations relating to customers welfare in line with Look Ahead’s Safeguarding policies.
- Adhere to all the policies and procedures of Look Ahead plus those specific to the service including any statutory requirements.
- Maintain records as required at the service.
- Participate in team meetings/reviews and the general development of the service.
- Undertake any other duties consistent with the grade and nature of the post as may be reasonably assigned

Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Essential:
- IT literate
- Experience of working within communities with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Ability to research information from a range of resources
Desirable:
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent or experience within charity/social care sector
- Experience and understanding of mental health and social care services.
- Driving licence
