Complex Needs Support Worker

Job description

Recruiting for a Complex Needs Support Worker to join our Service in Westminster!

GBP 23,500.00 per annum, working 40 hours per week, plus 25 days Annual Leave, Pension schemes, Staff discounts, healthcare and more.

Job Overview:

If you are looking for a dynamic role where no day is the same, then a role at Hopkinson House may be for you! Hopkinson House Hostel provides 24-hour accommodation-based support for 36 individuals with complex histories, multiple traumas, complex personality disorder(s) and a varied, disrupted housing history with experience of homelessness and rough sleeping.

Working at Hopkinson House, you will develop skills supporting people with varying needs – working alongside partners such as Adult Social Care, probation, NHS hospitals, Community Mental Health Teams, Forensic Mental Health Teams, and Substance Misuse Agencies. The support that we provide is person-centred and flexible, based on the needs of the individual and underpinned by the principles of PIE and trauma-informed support. If you are passionate about having a positive impact on people »s lives and are resilient and compassionate, please apply today!

Hopkinson House implements and promotes the Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) model. This is an approach to supporting people out of homelessness, those who have experienced complex trauma or are diagnosed with a personality disorder, by focusing on building relationships. The hostel aims to work in a trauma-informed way and considers psychological models and theories both in terms of how to support residents and in the day-to-day running of the hostel. It also considers the psychological needs of staff, for example, developing skills and knowledge and regularly reflecting on the work. Hopkinson House has an in-house Clinical Psychologist who offers one-to-one support to residents, runs reflective practice and training for staff, offers debriefs after difficult incidents, and supports the management team to work in a psychologically informed way.

In addition to the vital work undertaken by Complex Needs to Support workers, residents are supported by various specialists, including the in-house clinical psychologist, art therapist, and specialist substance misuse worker. The service works with various agencies such as community mental health teams, substance misuse teams, specialist outreach teams and homeless GP surgeries.

As a Complex Needs Support Worker, you will be able to creatively engage individuals to build good relationships, and support residents to engage with other services, attend to their health, engage in meaningful activity, and increase their independence.

Partnership working is at the heart of supporting our customers and Complex Needs Support Workers are required to build and maintain those relationships to coordinate customers’ support.

Working at Hopkinson House will provide an opportunity to learn about mental health, substance misuse, and how to help those who have experienced multiple disadvantages and are often excluded from society.

This role requires working on a rota pattern encompassing a mix of shifts between 08:00 to 16:00 and 14:00 to 22:00 including weekends.
