Job Summary

The Center for Autism Research (CAR) is conducting a wide range of research studies seeking to identify causes of Autism, and to explore novel methods of diagnosis, effective interventions, and other supports for Autistic individuals and the autism community. The Data and Statistical Core at CAR manages a diverse array of data projects and infrastructure across the Center, supporting the data management needs of individual clinical research studies. Current studies include several federally funded projects processing and standardizing video, audio, and sensor data, which the Data Core supports by building and maintaining automated workflows. The Data and Statistical Core also leads data harmonization across CAR’s research portfolio. We are seeking a full-time Data Analyst to join CAR’s Data Core.

Job Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Database Development and Management
    • Partners in integrating data from multiple sources to create relational databases for the purpose of advanced reporting using SQL
    • Maintains Linux server-based infrastructure, and CRON automated scheduling processes
    • Performs detailed QA/QC
  • Programming and Data Processing
    • Facilitates programming of pre-processing and metadata extraction pipelines for audio/video, neuroimaging, and other research data using python
    • Writes code to create, score, and manage behavioral and psychological assessment databases
    • Utilizes version control software to promote reproducibility
  • Data Visualization and Reporting
    • Extracts and recombines datasets for analysis in R
    • Creates data visualizations and reports for end users
  • Project Coordination
    • Meets and communicates effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders
    • Coordinates projects and keeps detailed documentation
    • Supports clinical research staff in using data management best practices

Job Responsibilities (Continued)

The Data Analyst will meet daily with the team of Data Core Analysts and regularly with the Manager and Directors. The Data Analyst will share knowledge and work collaboratively with the team to develop and implement standardized research data management solutions Center-wide. The Data Analyst will also interface on a project basis with Principal Investigators, Scientists, Clinicians, and staff across the Center, functioning as the Data Core lead for several active studies. The Data Analyst will exercise excellent time management, flexibly balancing work on multiple simultaneous projects based on the Center’s needs.

Prior experience with all of these duties is a plus but is not necessary; many of the Data Analyst’s duties can be learned on the job. The CAR Data Core is seeking hardworking team players who are able to quickly learn and apply information in a fast-paced research setting. The ideal candidate will have a passion for utilizing data management best practices to contribute to health-related research.

This position offers valuable experience for growing a career as an Analyst or Data Manager in a health research field. As a member of CAR, the Data Analyst will join a collaborative team and attend lectures and seminars on recent findings in autism research and psychology. As a member of the CAR Data Core, the Data Analyst will also attend workshops and trainings on techniques in project and data management and analytics.

Required Education and Experience

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree
Required Experience:
  • One (1) year of data analysis or database management experience.

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Experience:
  • Two (2) years of programming and database management experience.
  • One (1) year of clinical research experience, including knowledge of IRB, informed consent, HIPAA, and human subjects research protections.
  • Experience with python or similar programming language.
  • Experience with Linux command line interface and server-based infrastructure.
