Job Description

Employer Engagement Partner (TESS)

Job description

This is a key role in the successful delivery of the Targeted Employability Support for Students programme (GO Wales) within the University of South Wales working within a dedicated TESS Team and closely with the wider Careers & Employability Service.

The programme is funded by the Welsh Government, through the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW), and operates pan-Wales supporting under-represented / disadvantaged students who are furthest from the labour market to improve their employability.

This role will work creatively with employers and under-represented / disadvantaged students to deliver quality employer focused experiences, work experience, and other employer engagement opportunities for students.

Under-represented / disadvantaged students will be supported to improve their “career confidence” moving them closer to the labour market through work experience, career coaching / skills development, and engagement with employers.

Students will be helped through intensive 1-2-1 career coaching and guidance, group workshops / webinars, asynchronous resources, engagement with employers / work experience, and other specialist interventions that compliment the core employability and enterprise offer.

Applicants for the post should be able to demonstrate experience of working in a role related to the provision of work experience, placements, recruitment, funding and training; have experience of working in a project based, target driven environment; have good labour market knowledge; experience of business and student engagement; and a good understanding of the issues related to students and graduates seeking work experience / employment.

The university is currently operating a hybrid-model of working. However, the successful candidate would be expected to work on campus for part of the week. This position is based at the Treforest campus of the University of South Wales.

This is a fixed term post to 31 July 2023 in the first instance, in line with current external funding.
