We are looking for multiple engineers at various career levels within the propulsion and fluids disciplines. Fluids and propulsion includes all hardware associated with the main propulsion system, tanks, pressurization, vent, and auxiliary systems. We also do entire systems for in-space thrusters. As part of a diverse and hardworking team of propulsion, mechanical, and fluid engineers, you will deliver these propulsion and/or fluid systems for spacecraft or launch vehicle upper stages. You will share in the team »s impact on all aspects associated with the design and delivery the system.
A Responsible Engineer is a project engineer with responsibility for the complete definition, design, development, and delivery of flight hardware. A responsible engineer generally has a broad understanding of components, systems and life cycles, but also as depth in one or more areas. Hardware can include components, sections of systems, or entire subsystems.
Responsibilities:
  • You will ensure complete definition (requirements) for your components or systems.
  • You will guide the design and analysis of your components or systems
  • For in-house components, you will lead the design and development.
  • For procured components, you will work with suppliers or other Blue Origin groups to identify and procure components.
  • You will lead testing and verification including development, qualification, and acceptance testing of your components or systems.
  • You will create and manage the project plans for your components or systems including cost, schedule, and risk management to ensure on-time delivery.
  • You may lead a small team. You may lead others to support you when skills outside your experience are required. For example, if CAD or testing support is needed, we will provide those resources under your leadership.
  • You may mentor less experienced engineers and perform technical peer reviews.
This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. Qualifications:
  • B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, Chemical Propulsion, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an aerospace propulsion or fluid discipline (more for higher levels)
  • Experience with basic analysis of flow through components or systems
  • Experience generating and interpreting Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Knowledge of propulsion and fluid system components (i.e. valves, regulators and pumps for cryogenics, propellants, and other fluids)
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of collaboration and inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired:
  • 5-20+ years’ experience for higher career levels
  • Experience with launch vehicles, launch vehicle upper stages, spacecraft, or satellites
  • Experience in all phases of the produce development cycle from definition through operation.
  • Experience with cryogenic fluids including liquid Oxygen and Hydrogen
  • Experience with Halls-Effect Thrusters
  • Advanced engineering degree
