Job Description

  • The commissary branch is responsible for the management of an agency wide logistical supply operation.
  • This consists of the procurement, storage and distribution of inmate clothing, officer clothing, personal hygiene products, bedding, office supplies and cleaning supplies.
  • Monthly shipments are made to commissaries located in 21 institutions.
  • The commissary also oversees institutional barber/beauty shop and laundry operations.
  • Your primary responsibility is to receive &distribute supplies/equipment accurately and timely.
  • Maintain detailed inventory records.
  • Practice stewardship by promoting excellence, fiscal responsibility &self-sufficiency.
  • Responsible for cleanliness &organization of work site.
  • Requires use of pallet jack/forklift.
  • May be required to lift up to 60 lbs.& stand for long periods of time in extreme temperatures.
  • May be required to assist in other areas to include backup to uniform section.
  • Schedule subject to change. Daily inmate contact.

Must successfully complete eight (8) week SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A High School Diploma and relevant program experience.

SCDC Minimum Requirements: (Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).

  • A High School diploma and work experience directly related to the area of employment.
