Job description

Recruiting for a Life Skills Worker to join our Tower Hamlets service.

£25,000 per annum, working 40 hours per week, plus 25 days Annual Leave, Pension schemes, Staff discounts, healthcare and more.

Job Overview:

Working within Tower Hamlets SPS, the Life Skills Worker will hold responsibility for working with clients in our Supported Living Services and guiding Support Workers to provide the relevant support to customer’s . Look Ahead operates trauma and psychologically informed approaches, ensuring that our customers benefit from being supported through strengths-based practices. The Life Skills Worker shares responsibility by ensuring that a holistic and cohesive model of customer support is embed within this service.

The purpose of this role is to assist customers to develop, recover, and improve the skills needed for daily living and working. By working with individuals and guiding support staff in actions that will facilitate a quicker and smoother transition to independence.

Key Responsibilities:

This is not an exhaustive list of all the duties and responsibilities that may be required from time to time and is subject to change in accordance with the needs of Look Ahead.

  • Observe customers doing daily tasks, ask them questions, and review their medical history whilst liaising with OT professionals were deemed necessary
  • Assess a customer’s physical/mental and overall health needs and complete an assessment aimed at sustainable independence
  • Feed into a support plan for customers, laying out the types of activities and specific goals to be accomplished to meet their individual needs
  • Help people with various restrictions or difficulties completing different tasks by example
  • Offer guidance and direction to colleagues supporting customers who have been assessed as having specific needs
  • Assess and record customers activities and progress for evaluations for reporting to

  • Undertake all administrative work and keep accurate and comprehensive tenant/customer records to professional standards

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Essential:

  • IT literate
  • Experience of working within communities with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to use creative thinking to solve problems.

Desirable:

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent or experience within charity/social care sector. ·

Experience and understanding of mental health and social care services.
