The post holder will work in the Medical Division at Queen’s Medical Centre acting as the Divisional Bronze contact on a daily basis. The role has 2 key management functions; operational site management and managing patient flow throughout the Medicine Division. The post holder will work closely with the staff on the ward and bed managers in order to manage patient flow effectively.
The post holder will maintain a clear focus on the management of emergency patient flows, working to ensure that all emergency patients are admitted in a timely manner, based on clinical priority and balanced with the wider Trust constraints around elective patient services. The Flow and Discharge Nurse will work with the Matrons and bed managers across the Medicine Division to support the effect management of flow and capacity.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Main duties and responsibilities:
Accountability for the maintenance of an accurate and contemporaneous bed states, monitoring actual/potential occupancy at all times, and to contribute to the required daily collection and analysis of data relating to bed management within the Medicine Division.
Monitoring of trigger points, and when necessary use judgement to implement the Trust’s Bed Escalation strategy, taking corrective action in order to minimise bed crises through effective planning. Coordinating the Trust response to patients who are likely to exceed the targets set out in the NHS plan.
Actively management and engagement of all teams to ensure a timely flow through ED and timely pull into acute beds and into specialty beds across the Medicine Division.

- Registered Level 1 Nurse with NMC Registration
- Holds Degree in Healthcare subject
