Job Description
St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Parish is an established community of nearly 150 years rich in US history and American Catholicism in the southern part of Frederick County, Maryland. The parish still has its country look while growing exponentially as a suburb of Baltimore and Washington DC. This growth has broaden the cultural spectrum from the families who settled here generations ago to those who have emigrated from India, Central America, Philippines and Africa and beyond.
The Parish seeks a Pastoral Associate for Evangelization and Catechesis. The Pastoral Associate will provide leadership in the design and implementation of varied opportunities for all ages to develop and /or rediscover their faith through the sacraments and service to the Church.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with both pastoral and support staff whose mission is to empower Catholics to live baptismal call to word, worship and service.
- Develops further an approach where ‘faith seeks understanding’ through experience, liturgy and knowledge.
- Calls forth responsible leaders for the various aspects of the mission
- Relates well to a wide variety of people via a spirit of generosity, enthusiasm and flexibility.
- Is:
- Present at principal parish events, most especially weekends Masses and times when parishioners gather.
- Proficient in the disciplines (theology, management, social skills) needed to articulate the faith and develop a team to care for the many ages and peoples whom you will serve.

Qualifications:
- Practicing Catholic able to participate in the Sacramental life of the Church
- Bachelor »s degree or its equivalent in a field related to the nature of the work. Examples include: Management, Roman Catholic Theology, Education
- Experience in motivating and encouraging people to learn, to volunteer and to accompany others
- Must be attuned to God »s inspiring moments and be able to articulate that inspiration to bring others to the service of the Gospel
- Ability to imagine, implement, and evaluate evangelization opportunities with the community you serve
