Job Description
Overview
This position will be 36 hours a week Monday-Friday with a half day off a week. That day will fluctuate depending on the providers in the office that week. Some weekends are required, usually 3-4 Saturdays a year from 8:00am -12:00pm. Closed Holidays
The Registration Specialist facilitates patient flow from point of entry to destination in a timely, accurate, and professional manner. They obtain information to generate a clear financial and demographic record for patients that will ensure maximum reimbursement and clinical outcomes. This employee will schedule appointments, interviews patients for appropriate medical information, explains charges and policies of the department/hospital, validates and enters charges into appropriate systems, and collects necessary payment. They also answer incoming calls and direct patients and visitors appropriately. They will handle check-in and check-out for IUHP GI/SIP Ortho/IUHP Dermatology. This position will support our Southern Indiana Physicians Specialty offices.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in a health care setting preferred AND/OR administrative experience.
- Knowledge of medical coding; ICD-10; CPT coding experience is a plus!
- Ability to interpret insurance information; knowledge of clinical practices and medical terminology preferred
- Basic proficiency in MS Office and great typing skills
