Job Description
Function/Duties of Position:
- Work independently on projects using molecular biology, biochemistry, cell culture techniques. Duties include molecular biology (gene cloning, sequencing); biochemistry (protein expression & purification, biochemical assays, Western blotting); cell culture (maintenance & passage of tissue culture cell lines).
- Ordering materials and supplies as needed, inventory and record keeping
- Contribute to manuscript preparation, participate in lab and research group meetings.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor »s in relevant field; OR
- Associate »s AND 3 years of relevant experience; OR
- 4 years of relevant experience; OR
- Equivalent combination of training and experience
- Must be organized, motivated, and capable of learning and following scientific protocols and working independently and with a team. Strong communication and oral presentation skills required.
- Duties include molecular biology (gene cloning, sequencing); biochemistry (protein expression & purification, biochemical assays, Western blotting); cell culture (maintenance & passage of tissue culture cell lines).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related field of study.
- Working knowledge of basic lab techniques required.
- 1-3 years of experience in molecular biology or biochemistry preferred.
- Priority will be given to candidates with previous research experience.
- Previous experience in biochemistry or molecular biology, and experience leading portions of an independent research project preferred.
Additional Details:
Physical Demands & Equipment Usage: Personnel will need to work at lab benches, desks and/or microscopes for up to 4 hours at a time. Some standing required – for up to 2 hours at a time. Ability to perform repetitive lab manipulations, move lab equipment under 25 lbs with accommodation, perform image analysis operation and help others with equipment use. Personal protective equipment must be worn as required. (Gloves, mask/respirator, eyewear, lab coat, etc).
