Job overview
We as a division are excited to be able to support our Surgery Matrons and P.A with the recruitment of an Administration Assistant.
The post holder will be working in a non- clinical area and will need a reasonable level of fitness in order to carry out their role.
Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have obtained at least three GCSEs grade C or above, including English Language; RSA III (or equivalent) typing qualification and NVQ Level II in Administration or equivalent experience to these. You will be competent in the use of all Microsoft Office packages.
You will be a conscientious and enthusiastic team player with excellent organisational and communication skills and be well motivated and reliable. You will be able to understand and accurately convey verbal and written information and be able to remain calm under pressure. You will be able to work as part of a team to ensure the smooth running of a busy department.
You must be able to prioritise your own workload according to the changing day to day demands and deadlines and use your own initiative to respond to queries both within and outside of the Organisation with a professional manner.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Use judgement and initiative to prioritise the importance/urgency of particular requests within defined guidelines
Ability to exchange sensitive or contentious information with diplomacy and in a confidential manner.
To undertake other specialty specific duties in accordance with Trust policies and procedures
Adapt a flexible attitude to meet the needs of the service, taking into consideration each department’s unique specialty and the subsequent requirements of such specialist services.
Provide cover during times of sickness and annual leave.
Establish and maintain admin systems/databases
Use judgement and initiative to prioritise the importance/urgency of particular requests within defined guidelines
Answer telephone queries and escalate appropriately
Undertake any other duties which may be reasonably required.
Promote an open friendly working environment

Essential criteria
- RSA III word processing or equivalent experience
- GCSE’s or equivalent C or above – must include English
- Computer literate to ECDL standard or equivalent.
- NVQ Level II in Administration or equivalent experience

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
