Senior QA Automation

A major financial services provider is looking for a Senior Automation QA to join their team at Canary Wharf. This role offers a highly competitive compensation package and annual bonus, as well as providing a great work/life balance with only two days per week in the office.

You will join the FX team as a Senior QA Automation engineer working to enhance the low-latency FX algorithmic trading platform. Working closely with the FX quant and eTrading desks, you will be helping to build and maintain primarily Java services, including market connectivity, pricing, risk management, and order execution. The QA Team within the FX team plays a critical role in ensuring the quality of software released to production is of a very high standard. Knowledge of low-latency system designs and test automation architectures, with a drive to solve complex problems, will be crucial to success in this position.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop exceptional, robust tests that will play a central role in the continuous integration pipeline.
  • Work closely with the development teams to contribute and take responsibility for test design and execution in various project lifecycle phases.
  • Contribute to the wider QA team, bringing forward new ideas and taking accountability for improvements to the test framework and processes.
  • Participate in agile sprints and use automated test-driven development designs in an agile development environment.
  • Working closely with other testers to support, mentor, and guide to help design and build maintainable automated test suites.
  • Stakeholder Management and Leadership – Key stakeholders are the front office, traders, quants, infrastructure partners and other members of the FIC group. You will communicate with senior stakeholders (Director and higher) to understand their requirements and manage their expectations of delivery.
  • Decision-making and Problem Solving – You will evaluate a situation or problem, understand the risks, costs, and benefits and be able to exercise judgment on a good path forward and be able to express this to colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Risk and Control Objective – Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework, and internal Policies and Policy Standards.


Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

  • Strong automation testing experience in a complex area (does not have to be FX or Banking).
  • Strong development skills including Java
  • Good knowledge of standard development and build tools, e.g. GIT, TeamCity, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills.


Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Front office banking experience.
  • Knowledge of KDB
  • Full software lifecycle involvement with at least one large commercial system, with the ideal candidate focusing on significant interaction with high-frequency trading or pricing systems.
  • Experience with Unix and Relational databases
