Job overview

The Maternity and Gynaecology department at NUH is looking to appoint additional senior registrars in order to ensure robust middle grade cover on both our campuses 24/7. We are offering 12 month fixed term contracts with the potential for this to be extended by mutual agreement.

Main duties of the job

Candidates should have full MRCOG and at least five years post-graduate experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology including a minimum of 12 months experience at registrar level in the UK or comparable health care system. We can offer educational supervision and the opportunity to develop and / or consolidate your skills in an area of special interest. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates wishing to develop a CESR portfolio will be supported, including weekly CPD time.

Working for our organisation

Our Gynaecology service includes an accredited urogynaecology unit, reproductive medicine, benign and emergency gynaecology. Our gynae-oncology service has just been recognised as a certified Advanced Ovarian Cancer Centre by the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology. We deliver 8,500 babies per year across our two campuses. Our maternity service is going through a significant transformation which will impact on every aspect of our service, co-designed with our staff and the women and families we care for. Our obstetric services include a labour suite on both campuses, linked to a level 3 Neonatal unit, a dedicated obstetric anaesthetic service and inpatient and outpatient obstetric services.

    • GMC Full Registration
    • MRCOG.

    • Distinction, prizes or honours during Postgraduate training.

    • At least 5 years’ post graduate experience in O&G, at least 12 months of which in a large UK acute trust
    • Candidate to have successfully completed ST5 or equivalent competencies in O&G

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

The system will run a check against the key security features within your documentation. The system will provide us with an outcome of your check which will be stored securely on your personal file along with all other pre-employment check documentation.

Consent:

  • Transfer of information: If I have previous NHS service – I consent to the transfer of my Electronic Staff Record (ESR) data between this and other NHS Trusts. I also consent to the Occupational Health Department confidentially accessing my occupational health records from my current or previous employer in order to check the status of my vaccinations, immunisations s and screening tests as relevant to the post. I understand this is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to me taking up the position at NUH.
  • Disclosure and Barring Service: Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incur a cost dependent on the level of check required (£41.90 for enhanced and £21.90 for standard). I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if it is required (by deduction from first month’s pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
