Are you an enthusiastic dietitian who would like to join a team of around 25 dietitians, technicians and assistants at Nottingham Children »s Hospital. The post looks after infants and children that are usually on enteral feeds at home when admitted to the children »s wards including PCCU at Nottingham Children »s hospital.

There is a small caseload of infants and children that will also be reviewed as outpatients between admissions. The post liaises closely with the home enteral feeding team and hospital MDT »s.

Experience in paediatric and enteral feeding is desirable however training will be available within the team to support your development. Once established within the role there will be opportunities to develop your skills with more complex patients.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide dietetic support for all infants and children admitted to the children »s wards or HDU who are on enteral feeds at home.

The successful candidate will support nutritional interventions including nasogastric, gastrostomy and jejunal feeds and some experience in these would be beneficial. You will be however joining an established team that will be able to support your learning and development. The post will support patients being discharged on enteral feeds and supporting their dietetic care at home. They will also need to work closely with the broader MDT to optimise patient care.

The post holder will also support audit and service evaluation to demonstrate the benefits of dietetic input within these patient pathways.

The post holder would be supported by a Team Leader and Clinical Leads to deliver a consistent high quality dietetic service at NCH.

The Children’s Therapy team at NCH is a friendly and supportive department of around 25 dietitians, support workers and administrative staff who work closely alongside the wider MDT, providing excellent evidence-based care and innovative ways of working.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You must have experience of working as a Dietitian. You will need to have excellent communication and leadership skills, a flexible approach and the ability to manage your own time and workload and that of other members of staff within a supportive team. You will work alongside dietitians as well as dietetic technicians and dietetic assistants. We expect you to be
enthusiastic, motivated and keen to develop your own skills and those of others. Experience of nutritional support is desirable. Additional training will be provided.

As part of this role, it is essential that you will be able to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) accordingly to national and local guidance.
