Job Summary
Honors College is seeking a proactive, collaborative, and thoughtful colleague to serve in a Student Programs Coordinator position. The ideal candidate will develop, plan, coordinate, promotes, and perform student-focused services or programs within the Honors College.

About the Honors College: The Honors College at Auburn University is home to nearly 1,500 of the best and brightest students from each of the university’s academic colleges and schools. The college, and its curriculum, represent a flexible, challenging and individualized path for students to take as they complete their degree. They can select Honors versions of core curriculum courses, departmental courses, seminars or research seminars, and study abroad courses. They may choose to become involved in undergraduate research and complete an Honors thesis or a professional presentation. They may also choose to enroll in graduate-level courses, which can count toward their graduate degree if they continue at Auburn. Partnering with faculty across campus, the Honors College offers roughly 190 Honors courses each year with an average class size of 25-30. The small class sizes allow for active classrooms and students get to know their faculty and the other students in the class.

Essential Functions
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates student-focused services or programs, including monthly and semi-monthly programs designed to build community and provide professional development opportunities.
  • Coordinates the planning and execution of special engagements. This includes academic ceremonies marking the beginning of the student’s time in the Honors College and graduation medal ceremonies, as well as management of the awards and recognition program.
  • Coordinates all aspects of the Week of Service. This is a signature Honors College event. This position will recruit, select and train student counselors for the program. Advise counselors through the planning process by teaching a 3-hour course to prepare the counselors to lead the program. This position will also coordinate the recruiting of participants. Manage all logistics to ensure a successful program.
  • Coordinates the event logistics, including developing and managing guest lists, securing various vendors, preparing event summaries, and coordinating committees and volunteer support services—assists in maintaining a centralized, unified, events management calendar.
  • Collaborates with departments, committees, and individuals throughout the University to advance and enhance the effectiveness of the programs.
  • Develops and coordinates effective educational outreach, marketing, and training strategies and materials.
  • Recruits, trains, supervises and evaluates student leaders. Recruits hire, train, supervise, and evaluate graduate assistants.
  • Builds, tracks and maintains budget set back directorate for programming.
  • Teaches one HONR course each semester.
  • Provides support to other Honors College initiatives as needed.
