Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Trust Specialist is a non-exempt, full-time accounting team position based in our Kansas City, MO office. This position will be responsible for trust application/disbursement functions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, and strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The timely and accurate posting of trust receivables payments on a daily basis for 14 trust accounts. Payments include manual checks, wires, ACH, credit cards, trust reserves, and internal transfers
  • Initiate trust disbursements via wire in online banking platform
  • Printing and posting of trust check requests
  • Obtaining proper documentation before initiating disbursements
  • Record disbursement of trust payments
  • Create new trust ledger accounts
  • Process internal banking transfers in online banking platform
  • Manage trust balance office locations
  • Trust Reporting i.e. Balance ledger reports, trust transaction listings
  • Back up Cash Applications team
  • Works proactively with others to support efforts within a department or function of the Firm.
  • Organizes and prioritizes assignments and contributes to the department’s ability to meet or exceed goals and standards.
  • Uses innovative thinking and exercises sound judgment to achieve results.


QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of Treasury experience.
  • 1-2 years of Law Firm experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Great organizational skills, attention to detail and follow-up skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be reliable and self-motivated and possess the ability to meet deadlines and produce quality work at all times.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Position is generally sedentary in nature; involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally or routinely lift up to 10 lbs. required.
  • Ability to talk and hear required.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions required.
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk required.
  • Ability to reach, lift, climb, balance, stoop and crouch required.
  • Ability to see and read PC screens; detect color coding, read fine print, and/or normal type size print.
