Job Description

Bishop Auckland College is seeking to recruit a 0.3 Lecturer Coordinator in Sociology and Criminology who will be responsible for the effective and efficient teaching and coordination of courses within the relevant curriculum area, to adult learners in a face to face capacity.

The role will be held by a developing academic who combines research with teaching and learning, displaying a collaborative approach together with a broad contribution to the department. A specialisation in the area of sociology will be particularly welcome, but applications engaging with or complementing alternative areas or expertise would also be considered. An understanding of areas such as: social problems myths and realities, the sociology of power, control and resistance, anthropological traditions and social science research would also be advantageous.

The successful candidate will be required to possess Certificate in Education (or be willing to work towards within 2 years) and a minimum of a Level 7 qualification in a relevant subject. It is desirable that the candidate will also possess an IT qualification, Level 2 Equality & Diversity.

This role will include responsibilities within safeguarding and the postholder will be engaging in regulated activity.
