Job Description
FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE
This position is responsible for supporting the Free and Reduced Meal Program Coordinator to ensure federal, state, and USDA compliance. Perform journey-level administrative and clerical support including, but not limited to, application processing, bookkeeping, recordkeeping, composing emails, creating reports, and providing informational data. This position reports to the Administrative Support Manager of Child Nutrition. This is a 10-month position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure timely receipt and processing of applications.
- Process letters notifying parents of Free and Reduced Meal Program status.
- Provide support for school administrators and cafeteria staff to ensure understanding of compliance with the Free and Reduced Meal Program regulations and requirements.
- Maintains all free and reduced applications, logs, and records in compliance with the USDA guidelines.
- Provides exceptional customer service and support to families with questions about Free and Reduced Meal Program, applications, and/or other Child Nutrition-related inquiries.
- Sorts and classifies information according to guidelines, such as content, purpose, user criteria, or chronological, alphabetical, or numerical order.
- Performs general office activities, such as typing, filing, answering telephones, operating office machines, processing mail, or securing confidential materials.
- Finds, retrieves, prints, and makes copies of information from files in response to requests and delivers information to authorized users.
- Greets visitors to the office, answers incoming phone lines, establishes the needs of callers, and refers to the appropriate person for service.
- Orders supplies, place work orders, processes invoices, and maintains inventory of supplies.
- Performs other projects or related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of office systems and processes, including but not limited to proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
- Ability to create reports, and compose correspondence, including but not limited to e-mails and professional documents
- Ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks efficiently and productively with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in all circumstances.
- Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, utilizing pertinent software applications.
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
- Ability to set work priorities and be flexible in adjusting workload and variety of tasks
- Ability to understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions.
- Handle incoming telephone calls and return messages in a timely manner.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum: High School Diploma/GED and two years of general office experience.
- Desirable: Associate’s degree in business, business management, finance, or another related field and two years of general office experience.
Pay Grade 59 – $2,600 Minimum Monthly Salary – Full Time Position

Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools formed in 1963 with the merger of the Winston-Salem and Forsyth County school systems. It is the fourth-largest system in North Carolina and the 78th largest in the nation.
