Community Engagement Co-ordinator – Ouse Valley Climate Action Project

Part time 22.5 hours per week

Salary range £24,982 – £27,041 per annum pro rata, this is a 3-year funded post.

Based Newhaven with travel to partner locations across Lewes District.

As Engagement Co-ordinator you will work on the Ouse Valley Climate Action Project and coordinate services and activities around the following:

  • Nature recovery
  • Connectivity
  • Knowledge, wellbeing and skills including carbon literacy
  • Sustainable energy
  • Active Travel

A key focus of the role will be to ensure and support reach into under-represented sections of the community and facilitate the development of their ideas, enabling individuals and communities to direct their community-led services, in order to address the climate and ecological emergency at a local level and build local resilience.

The role reports to the Lead Partner (SDNPA) Project Manager and has a dotted line to SCDA’s Community Development & Health Programme Manager, supporting the input of local volunteers.

Responsible for contributing to the development of future funding, the post holder will also design, deliver, evaluate and report to funders and partners with regard to activities and services.

This role requires experience of community work, in addition to being motivated self-starters who are able to plan and manage time effectively, use initiative and demonstrate a flexible & positive approach to community engagement. Being car owners and drivers is preferred.
