Support is for a middle aged lady suffering from Multiple Sclerosis.
She lives in her own home which has been adapted to meet her needs. She has a small team of PA’s who together provide the support she needs.
Client has a gentle, caring personality, and wishes to have an active life enjoyed to the full. Empathy, compassion & a desire to support independence are therefore most important attributes.
Grandchildren stay regularly so a rapport with children is an advantage.
Summary of Duties
The role includes support with all activities of daily living, including mobility, washing, dressing, food preparation and hydration, and oversight of medication.
Companionship, the opportunity to participate in social activities outside the home are important, as too is care of the home & some elements of personal care (e.g. skin care & intermittent catheterisation.)
Ability to drive ideal (though not essential), employer has an adapted vehicle for the purpose.
Client needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.
You may be required to undertake any training that is considered necessary and appropriate to your role.
The Person They Are Looking For
Client is looking for 1 or 2 people to cover 30 hours per week. There is complete flexibility to agree how the exact hours are configured.
Empathy, compassion & a desire to support independence are particularly important attributes, and flexibility to work with other team members to ensure clients needs are met would be a big advantage.
Personal Assistant’s are considered part of the family, so a desire to be in a friendly, informal workplace with the scope to focus on quality not quantity is a must.
Full driving licence is essential as the role requires you to drive the employer’s vehicle.(minimum age 25).
Moving and handling – this lady uses a hoist appropriate training will be given.
The Times Required
Caring team cover 7 days per week.
The current vacancy is for up to 30 hours per week.
We have flexibility to accommodate 2 people covering the 30 hours, therefore actual hours & weekly pattern are to be agreed
