Job Description
We are looking to recruit a Head of Assisted Discharge and Community Services for an 18 month secondment. This is a pivotal new role within our Health and Local Crisis Response Team who will oversee the development of our existing Assisted Discharge and Community services offered and will be responsible for ensuring they solve commissioner and service user challenges and adapt to innovations in the health and care system.
We are looking for someone with a passion for continuous improvement who understands the importance of service user and commissioner feedback in developing better services to meet health system problems. They will enjoy working collaboratively with Area Leadership Teams and with peers and will be solution and delivery focussed.
About you…
The ideal candidate will have a strong background within either the health sector or the third sector and have recent experience of operating assisted discharge and community wrap around services. They will share the same passion and purpose for supporting people in times of crisis that the BRC does. They will be determined to drive forward change which meets the unique needs of the service users across the UK that we serve and will be expert in spotting challenges and creative problem solving.

The Health team supports people in the space between hospital and home; maintaining an extensive network of external relationships across health, social care, and emergency services.
- Excellent communication skills. Messages are clear and unambiguous, a professional business tone is adopted.
- Ability to work well under deadlines and juggle multiple priorities. Strong meeting management skills.
- Good business and financial acumen to facilitate strategic planning, business reviews, and opportunity assessments
- Understands internal and external customer business needs and provides appropriate solutions.
- Anticipates, listens to and values customers’ needs, suggestions and feedback.
- Ensures own work output is aligned with customer (internal or external) and stakeholder needs and anticipates future requirements.
- Demonstrates sound ability to apply analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of NHS and LA commissioning
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office applications
- Ensures inclusive practice and promotes diversity
- Senior experience in a related field such as health, social care or service delivery in a social enterprise
- Development and oversight of service or products including awareness of a product lifecycle approach
- Ability to connect product strategy with business outcomes, fluency in product strategy discussions
- Demonstrated capacity for influencing and making high-quality decisions and taking decisive action.
