Job Description
This is responsible professional work providing technical assistance and guidance to neighborhood associations in the development of action strategies to address community concerns and priorities. Work includes identifying and resolving neighborhood issues by working with City staff, neighborhood residents and community members; assisting with the creation and support of neighborhood plans, special projects, and events; and empowering neighborhoods and individual groups to enhance their quality of life through improvements, programs, and events, including housing and community development, street trees programs, sidewalk enhancement and code enforcement. Work involves serving as a liaison for the City in coordinating related activities with neighborhood associations, citizens, representatives of other governmental agencies, other City departments, and local businesses; compiling and analyzing data, neighborhood policies and financial information, including billing, invoicing, and grants; and preparing detailed records, reports, and recommendations. Work is performed with considerable latitude, requiring the exercise of tact and diplomacy, sound judgment and initiative in developing methods and solutions to resolve related problems.

To Qualify
Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:
- Have a valid Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in urban planning, planning, public or business administration, communications or a related field.
- Have a valid Driver License.
- Have at least three years of experience in a problem-solving environment, preferably in neighborhood services or urban planning.
- Possess excellent communication skills, orally and in writing, including making presentations to groups and City staff.
- Be proficient in the use of a personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite software, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:
- Have a valid Master’s degree with one year of related experience.
- Have knowledge of the geographical area and demographics of neighborhoods within the City.
- Have considerable knowledge of modern techniques utilized in program research, development, and implementation.
- Are able to plan, market, promote and coordinate neighborhood events, meetings, conferences, and training and technical assistance workshops.
- Are able to identify neighborhood needs and potential solutions and to plan, manage, and evaluate neighborhood outreach programs and activities, including extensive knowledge of related grants.
- Are able to prepare succinct, coherent and technically accurate reports and analyses.
