Job Description
Summary: Responsible for managing the physical damage claims, total loss claims, and GAP refunds for consumer and home equity loans. These duties include processing GAP refunds for indirect loans that payoff early, quoting payoffs, processing and posting payoff and physical damage and total loss insurance claim checks and releasing liens on vehicles. Process “Out of Country” letters, proof of paid loan letters and modification agreements for due date changes to consumer loans. Cross trains on other job functions within Loan Servicing department to assist with coverage during periods of high volumes or absences. Accuracy and attention to detail is vital to protect the Credit Union’s assets in the consumer loan portfolio.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Effectively communicate and manage relationship with insurance companies, members and repair facilities following procedures for processing physical damage or total loss claims and assuring proper follow-up is executed.
- Effectively communicate and manage relationship with preferred car dealerships for processing GAP refunds on indirect vehicle loans.
- Analyze, approve, process, endorse and post physical damage and total loss claim checks for all vehicle and home equity loans following CACU’s procedures minimizing any risk to the Credit Union.
- Process and post payoff requests for consumer loans.
- Prepare lien releases on vehicles that have been paid in full by total loss insurance claims, dealerships or other institutions. Prepare duplicate lien releases when requested by members or 3rd parties.
- Process “Out of Country” letters, proof of paid loan letters, and modification agreements for due date changes to consumer loans.
- Effectively interact and communicate with members and front-line staff regarding questions regarding collateral.
- Work with other Credit Union departments to insure the workflow or process is providing the best service to members.
- Cross train throughout Loan Servicing.

Requirements: Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. Two or more years related experience in afinancial institution in a loan servicing role is preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Credit Union products and services.
- Accuracy and attention to detail is vital.
- Demonstrate behaviors that are consistent with the Credit Union’s values, philosophies and leadership characteristics.
- Promote honest and open communication throughout the credit union.
- Familiar with state legal requirements for perfecting liens.
- Familiar with state legal requirements for releasing liens for vehicle and Home Equity loans.
- Ability to maintain and organize workloads.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with members, internal customers and external vendors via phone, e-mail or in person.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
- Ability to resolve interpersonal conflict and miscommunications.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be able to be bonded.
