Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quality Assurance Officer to join the Research Governance Team within LSTM.
LSTM has a growing requirement for expertise in Quality Assurance as we expand our research profile and offer an increasing range of services to external clients. We conduct multiple clinical trials for treatments and vaccines to protect against respiratory infections and the associated laboratory research facility (the Respiratory Infection Research Laboratories) operates according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) requirements and guidance. The Clinical Diagnostics Parasitology Lab (CDPL) is a UKAS accredited facility (operating to ISO15189) providing a referral service for the identification of a wide range of human parasites from clinical specimens and we have a large team of entomologists offering a commercial testing service to industry partners with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) accreditation.
The successful candidate will have extensive GLP experience with a Quality Assurance background. Primarily your role will be to ensure that LSTM activities are compliant with all required regulatory standards, requirements and guidelines. You will also be responsible for designing, implementing, and auditing a system for regular inspections of laboratory record groups across the institution.
- Ensuring compliance with all regulatory bodies including but not limited to GLP, GCP and ISO standards as applicable
- Provide support when preparing for external inspection/audits
- Ensure ongoing data integrity and compliance within the organization in accordance with the relevant QMS
- Provide training to staff on compliance with relevant guidelines and regulations
- Work collaboratively to build a positive and proactive quality culture that drives employee engagement
- Develop guidelines, and support training, in best practice for maintenance of laboratory notebooks and electronic data storage
- Organise and conduct a series of internal audits to embed best practice in laboratory note taking
The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective working relationships with a range of people at all levels from diverse. Ideally, you will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory and LSTM requirements in relation to Quality with guidance from Head of Governance.
- Ensuring compliance with all regulatory bodies including but not limited to GLP, GCP and ISO standards as applicable
- Provide support when preparing for external inspection/audits
- Produce reports to the Research Governance and Integrity Committee for any issues needing escalation and formal reporting and results from any audits carried out.
- Provide training to staff on compliance with relevant guidelines and regulations
- Act as a point of contact for advice and support on quality matters
- Organise and conduct a series of internal audits to embed best practice in laboratory note taking
