Sr Buyer

Position Overview:
Novelis is seeking for a Sr Buyer to join the onsite Procurement team that will support the Oswego capital projects team in Oswego, NY. The person in this role will report to the Procurement Manager – Strategic Projects with indirect report to the Capital Projects Manager in Oswego. The ideal candidate will own the onsite capital purchasing activities, including commercial evaluation, PO creation and follow-up, vendor onboarding process and supplier performance. This position will work closely with the other project team members as well as the Global procurement organization and ensures full compliance with Novelis rules. This position will play a meaningful role in effective and timely startup of the projects specific to the Oswego facility.

Responsibilities & Qualifications:

Responsibilities:
  • Be responsible for the assigned purchasing activities for the Oswego Capital Projects, including equipment and services, which are not handled by the Global Procurement Team.
  • Be responsible for price comparison and evaluations;
  • Ensure strategies, actions and priorities are aligned within the CAPEX Procurement team, Engineering, Project Management and other key collaborators.
  • Plan and implement local negotiations of commercial terms and agreements, along with the Project Procurement Manager.
  • Supervise supplier performance.
  • Secure adequate delivery dates and follow-up on them.
  • Build Purchase Orders, as well as review and negotiate supplier change orders.
  • Own supplier onboarding and compliance process in Avetta.
  • Ensure accurate documentation in order to be aligned with Novelis rules (e.g. DOA, code of Conduct) and laws of the US.
  • Implement the safety first principle, follow HSE rules and participate in HSE training, timely report the accident and near miss events. Be responsible for the security of oneself, colleagues and visitors.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree.
  • 5+ years of shown experience in purchasing/procurement, preferably for capital projects.
  • Shown commercial thinking and drive.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a multicultural team with multifunctional authorities.
  • Good communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to establish relationships with internal collaborators and suppliers.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a multinational company
  • SAP Procurement knowledge and experience

Note:
This position will have a need to primarily work onsite in Oswego, NY to fully meet the requirements of the position. The selected individual should expect to be onsite roughly 90% – 100% of the time, monthly.
