Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is looking for a Designer to join our transportation service team in Las Vegas, Nevada. Our ideal candidate will have 5 or more years of roadway design experience supporting public sector projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work as a key member of a roadway design team under the direction of various Project Engineers/Managers. Job duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Work with a team in the preparation of plans and cost estimates for projects of various size and complexity
- Work with a team or independently in the preparation of various roadway design elements using local (state, county, or city) and/or AASHTO standards, including horizontal and vertical alignments; plan and profile; utility design and relocation; streetscape and roadway improvements; bicycle and pedestrian facilities; signing, striping, and signalization
- Prepare detailed construction drawings using Autodesk Civil 3D
- Produce high quality work and perform quality assurance checks
- Coordinate with other disciplines and support services
- Identify applicable codes, standards, or other design requirements
- Supervise the work of less experienced technical support personnel
- Mentor and train technical support personnel
- Ensures division, regional, and company values, policies and practices are consistently followed within the survey service
- Lead by example – display solid judgement, good values, trust, honesty, openness, and professionalism
Required Experience:
- 5+ years experience in roadway design
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Technical degree or certification in Autodesk Civil3D
- Expert in Autodesk Civil3D and Bluebeam
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
- Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet project deadlines
- Detail-oriented with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
