Quality, Risk and Safety for maternity are seeking someone with knowledge and interest in Clinical Effectiveness to join our busy, friendly team to drive forward the work we are doing with audits and guidelines.

Please note the job title is dependent on an individual’s qualifications (Please see Job Specification for further details). Non-registrants will hold the job title Clinical Effectiveness Specialist. Midwifery Registrants will hold the job title Quality, Risk and Safety Midwife for Clinical Effectiveness.

Main duties of the job

The successful post holder will;

Be instrumental in influencing and developing the clinical audit programme and promote the effective delivery of clinical audit

Conduct audits and develop and monitor action plans to ensure recommendations from quality monitoring are embedded in practice and that assurance is provided to the Speciality and divisional leads

Provide specialist advice and support in relation to audit and quality improvement projects

Coordinate the development, endorsement and approval of policies and guidelines within the maternity services by taking a lead role in conjunction with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure that care provided is in line with current evidence and national guidance

Prepare and deliver presentations at meetings and forums on results, progress and action development

Midwifery registrants will;

Have an opportunity to undertake incident investigations and reviews, with support from the multi-disciplinary team. The role will include reporting incidents and investigation outcomes both verbally and within written reports.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To work as part of the maternity QRS team to support the management of the audit and guideline processes.

This includes:

Supporting the service to plan and undertake clinical audits, ordering and reviewing notes from a variety of sources, data collection, data analysis and presentation and report writing to an excellent standard

Presenting audit findings to members of the multidisciplinary team.

Assisting in ensuring any quality improvement changes are identified, implemented and embedded within working practice and monitored for effectiveness

Supporting the team in providing advice and guidance in clinical effectiveness work

Accurately producing reports to support department activities within agreed timeframes

Coordinating the development, endorsement and approval of policies and guidelines within the maternity services

Supporting the progress of action plans from incident investigations

Participate in Patient Safety Conversations and Safety Spaces throughout the Trust.

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

The system will provide us with an outcome of your check which will be stored securely on your personal file along with all other pre-employment check documentation.

Consent:

  • Transfer of information: If I have previous NHS service – I consent to the transfer of my Electronic Staff Record (ESR) data between this and other NHS Trusts. I also consent to the Occupational Health Department confidentially accessing my occupational health records from my current or previous employer in order to check the status of my vaccinations, immunisations s and screening tests as relevant to the post. I understand this is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to me taking up the position at NUH.
  • Disclosure and Barring Service: Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incur a cost dependent on the level of check required (£41.90 for enhanced and £21.90 for standard). I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if it is required (by deduction from first month’s pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
