Job Description

This is semi-skilled manual work requiring the application of skills and knowledge above the basic laboring level. Work includes a variety of cleaning tasks and performing minor repairs in a Major City facility using specialized hand tools, power tools, and equipment. Work may include lead supervisory responsibility over custodial assistants.

Salary: $15.91 – $21.40 Hourly

To Qualify

Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:

  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver License.
  • Have considerable knowledge of a variety of cleaning materials, methods, equipment, and procedures.
  • Successfully meet the State of Florida Level II background screening standards (Florida State Statutes 435.01-435.06).
  • Be able to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.

Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:

  • Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Have some basic supervisory experience.
  • Have some computer knowledge.
  • Are able to perform light maintenance and basic repairs of equipment in a recreation facility.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT

The successful candidate must be either a resident of the City of St. Petersburg as of his or her date of employment, or establish primary residency within the city limits of St. Petersburg within six months of completing the probationary period. Furthermore, as long as the successful candidate is employed in this classification, he or she must reside within the city limits of St. Petersburg. This requirement is not applicable to current City employees who were hired before October 20, 1997.
